Travel Advisory

The Municipality of Balo-i, province of Lanao del Norte, located in the northern Mindanao area along the north western coast. There are three fishing ground sparsely located on nearby municipalities and cities, namely: Iligan bay, Panguil bay, and Illana bay. The north of the municipal is Iligan City, on the west the province of Misamis Occidental, on the south the province of Lanao del Sur.

Exciting ways to travel to Balo-i.

SEA. The nearest port in the north is Iligan, the other one is in Ozamiz City (Misamis Occidental) and the farthest is Cagayan de Oro City in north Mindanao area (Misamis Oriental). Reaching the port you can take a taxi, pedicab (cycle rickshaw also known as "sikad-sikad', a bicycle with an attached compartment for passenger), and a tricycle to take you to the bus terminal. The buses has an hourly trip schedule to various destination.

AIR. The Maria Cristina airport can take a private chopper but not available to commercial flights. The nearest airport is in Ozamiz City were you will be taking a combination of bus and boat to get to Balo-i. The other one is the Laguindingan International airport located in El Salvador which is a few minutes in Cagayan de Oro city. There are multiple daily flights from Manila and Cebu, and also flight from Davao, Bacolod and Iloilo.

LAND. The best way to go to places is with a private vehicle then you could park your car with your friends place or to known parking spaces, from there you take a taxi to either to the airport or the pier. The bus is the most convenient and is a good choice when you are on a budget.

It is best to always plan your trip to any destination so you will be enjoying the scenery with the people with no worry. There are of course friendly people who could assist you with directions but always consider other options as well like nearest police precinct, barangay hall or other community assistance centers.

As a tourist it is a good idea to carry a map and make sure to take note of the points where to ask further information. The camera is a handy tool to records all your experience with the people and the place.
